Hospice Care
Sometimes when we bring a senior dog into our care, we find out they have a life threatening medical condition. For some of our dogs who are expected to live only a few months, we provide Hospice Care.
Providing Hospice Care for a dog is a big commitment and a rewarding experience. If you are interested in providing foster care for a dog for the last several months or more of their life, contact us. As with all foster assignments, POMDR will cover all medical expenses for dogs in hospice care.

Sophie
Sophie is an adorable little teddy bear who loves her people! She enjoys walks and exploring the yard, taking in all the good smells. Sophie has been diagnosed with Cushings disease on top of quite a few other medical conditions. She will remain in her loving foster home for the rest of her life, receiving the best care to help her to stay as healthy as possible.
Sophie came to us from Santa Cruz County Animal Services after being surrendered by her guardian who could no longer care for her.

Russell
Sweet, sweet Russell joined us early in 2024 after being surrendered to Santa Cruz County Animal Services when his guardian fell ill and was not able to care for this sweet boy any longer.
Over time, Russell's vision has diminished and health has been declining. Despite this decline, Russell still adores his people. He still enjoys a good walk around the block and loves to sink into a cozy bed for a nap afterwards. We're grateful that mister Russell will live out his senior years under the care of his incredible foster mom and the care of our vet team to ensure he stays as healthy as can be.
